ANCIENT CHINESE SILVER TRADE MARKET COIN WITH MANY HALLMARKS 15th-16th AD 198,0g
Description: Chinese Qing Dynasty 6-Tael ingot, Boat Silver Sycee or YuanBao, 198,0g. Six Chinese Tael Silver. Chinese “YUANBAO” or “Sycee” Ingot. The value of each ingot of silver was determined by weight in taels, which is a weight measurement, part of the Chinese system of weights and currency. Hence, the shape and amount of each yuanbao/ ingot were highly variable. This yuanbao weighs about 198,0gr. Measures 60 mm long x 40 mm wide x 27mm (1.8) tall. I have not tested the purity of the silver, as they often vary. This ingot is believed to contain less than 50% silver, which was common in these antique ingots. I repeat, this ingot is NOT made of pure silver, but a combination of mixed materials. As this yuanbao weighs about 198,0gr. And there are about 32.8 gr. In one Canton, Chinese tael, I estimate that this ingot would be equal to about 6 taels (6 x 32.8 = 196.8 grams).
